What is liquid ring vacuum pump?

The liquid ring pump is a rotating positive displacement pump powered by an induction motor. These simple but highly reliable pumps have a variety of industrial applications. One of this applications is soil remediation where contaminated ground water and the vapor phase are drawn from wells by vacuum.

How does DunaTec’s liquid ring vacuum pump work?

DunaTec liquid ring vacuum pumps and compressors are simple, robust and very reliable.  There is only one moving part, the rotor, so there is no metal to metal friction! The axis of the rotor and the housing are offset from each other.  The spinning of the rotor forces the liquid (not filling the house completely) to form a ring in the house.  Since the liquid ring and the rotor are not concentric, periodically increasing and decreasing chambersizes will evolve with each turn of the rotor. Thanks to the construction it is absolutely perfect for working in dangerous, explosive ambience.

DunaTec’s vacuum pump in ground water remediation

In a lot of soil remediation project, we would like to clean the contaminated water and vapor phase (BTEX, VOC) as well. First of all, we want to exploit them together. The best solution is a liquid ring vacuum pump because this equipment can handle both! We pump the mixed phase up, then we separate them in fluid-detach columns. The vapor phase can be cleaned by absorption or biofilter or catalytic oxidation system. We pump the groundwater to a sedimentation tank from the gas/liquid separator tank in order to detach the free HC phase. Then we could clean the water with activated carbon.
